About

I’ve always had a passion for making things. Anything. Building, painting, origami, music… the list goes on. In 2008 my mom taught me how to crochet and that quickly made its way to the top of my hobby list. Soon after, my grandma taught me how to sew.

Having started out making dog collars and bows, I quickly realized that I should incorporate my love for crochet as well. Eventually the idea for Olive Jay Stitches came to light. By just offering hats and bags I’m able to explore different ways of making unique pieces whether crochet or sewn. When shopping for thrifted materials to upcycle into something else I try to look for the items most people wouldn’t grab (holes, stains, etc) and cut around the problem areas so that items are able to get a new life. As a self proclaimed tree hugger, I believe it’s our duty to do our best to reduce the amount of waste we produce and implement measures in my daily life to do my part. While I may use new materials for crochet items, they are made to last a long time. Each stitch is like a knot adding to its durability.

I strive to make every item with love and hope you enjoy your order!
